Chernobyl - Now

A girl by the name of Elena took a motorbike ride to Chernobyl and put up this website. This is absolutely mesmerizing; each photo more interesting than the one before.

I was in Sardinia when this happened. They warned us about the radiation cloud coming our way. Came right over where I lived. Maybe that's why I can't give blood now.

They ask me if I lived in Europe before such and such date. When I say yes, they say...Buh-Bye.


I didn't realize the vehicles and helicopters couldn't be de-contaminated. Also didn't realize so many people died.

Elena did not actually ride a motorcycle in the Zone. Motorcycles are not allowed there, and a guide from Chernobyl InterInform remembers her from a tour.

I personally visited the area for two days in June 2006 with a former resident of Pripyat.
We got a tour of the Chernobyl Plant (including the Reactor 4 control room),
several of the abandoned villages, and Pripyat. I have posted a photo journal
